Changing name & address of the applicant/proprietor

The applicant may request for change of the name and address of the applicant or inventor, or other contents related to an industrial design application. Before the IP Vietnam issues a notice of refusal to accept a valid application, a notice of refusal to grant a Design Patent or a decision to grant a Design Patent, the applicant may take the initiative or at the request of the IP Vietnam to amend the application.

In order to record the applicant's name/address change for an industrial design application, the following documents are required: 

(1) One original signed Power of Attorney in the new name/address;

(2) One original notarized Statutory Statement for the change.

In order to record the owner's name/address change for a Design Patent, the following documents are required: 

(1) One original signed Power of Attorney in the new name/address;

(2) One original notarized Statutory Statement for the change;

(3) Original Design Patent.

It would normally take 04-05 months for completing recordal of the name/address change of the applicant/proprietor.
