Changing name & address of the applicant/proprietor

The applicant may request for change of the name and address of the applicant or inventor, or other contents related to a patent application. Before the IP Vietnam issues a notice of refusal to accept a valid application, a notice of refusal to grant a Patent or a decision to grant a Patent, the applicant may take the initiative or at the request of the IP Vietnam to amend the application. In order to record the applicant's name/address change for a patent application, the following documents are required:

•  One original signed Power of Attorney in the new name/address;
•  One original notarized Statutory Statement for the change.

In order to record the owner's name/address change for a Patent, the following documents are required:

• One original signed Power of Attorney in the new name/address;
• One original notarized Statutory Statement for the change;
•  Original Patent.

It would normally take 04-05 months for completing recordal of the name/address change of the applicant/proprietor.
